How to Divorce Your SEO Client
This next post is advice for fellow SEO consultants out there. It doesn’t happen all of the time, but from time to time you will get an unruly client that is completely unmanageable or simply not a good fit. Don’t beat yourself up over it; it simply does happen. It comes with the territory and it all depends on how you handle it. Sometimes you can get an idea prior to taking on a client that it might happen and sometimes you get blindsided 6 months into a campaign.
Here are some tactics to use to go separate ways safely:
Be Nice About It
You don’t want to burn your bridges because of how you go about this step. Always play nice regardless of what happens. You don’t want to entice the disgruntled client and push them to write any negative reviews about your business when they might not be true.
Find the Root Cause
Find out why the client is upset. When did it start? What brought it on? Maybe you have to re-educate your client on the concepts of search engine optimization. Even though search engine optimization concepts are understood early in the process they are sometimes forgotten early in the campaign.
Show Your Work
If you haven’t shown your monthly work to the client thus far they might have the right to be upset. If you haven’t shown them what you have been doing each month put it all together on a spreadsheet now and send it over to them. The divorce might be occurring because they simply don’t believe any work has been conducted up to this point.
Hold Your Ground
If you have done everything you said you would and provided the proof and the reports and the client is still very upset than hold your ground because you upheld your end of the bargain. Search engine optimization is a timely process that requires many different gears spinning at the same time and sometimes people have a hard time understanding this.
These client divorces happen from time to time and it is important to not get down on yourself, especially if you have provided everything your company possibly could. Sometimes things just clash and it is important to part ways amicably with no hard feelings.
Posted in: Article (Business)How to Raise Your Prices
Let’s face it: even during the economic downturn we’ve faced in the last couple of years, expenses haven’t stopped going up. So in order to survive, at some point, we web workers, business owners and managers have to think about raising prices. But how to do it without annoying and losing our customers?
We all know that it’s better to keep existing customers than to spend the time and effort getting new ones. Recently, a friend and fellow business owner asked me for advice on how she could raise her prices. Here’s the procedure we came up with:
Calculate the price increase you need. You probably know which of your clients are likely to go elsewhere when prices are raised, so run some scenarios on a spreadsheet and see what pencils out. Try to plan at least a couple of years in advance, since you don’t want to have to raise prices too often.
Create two tiers of pricing. You can generally raise prices for new customers right away, as soon as you’ve updated whatever published price lists you may have, and changed your internal systems to reflect the new rates. Keep your current clients at your old prices for now.
Schedule the price increase. Pick a date, at least a couple of months away, for implementing the increase for current customers. To simplify record keeping and tax reporting, I prefer to schedule increases at the beginning of a new year or quarter.
Notify current customers what you plan to do.
- Explain why the increase is needed. For service businesses, you may want to tell customers that the increase will be used to give the folks they deal with well-deserved raises.
- Explain that because they are valued customers, you have continued to charge them at your old rates until now. You might also want to offer the ability to pre-pay for your services at the old rates for up to 6-12 months.
Be prepared to politely deal with upset customers, in person, by phone, by email, and on social media. Try to respond to such customers individually if you can, and avoid canned responses. But be firm, and don’t negotiate special deals.
My friend and I have both followed these steps for our respective businesses in the last few months, and we’ve been happy with the results. We both lost a few clients, but fewer than we expected, and the increased revenue more than made up for the losses. And frankly, the lost customers were those with small budgets and big needs; it’s often true that those with the smallest budgets need the most hand-holding.
Posted in: Article (Business)How to Win Business Through Social Bookmarking
If you are in the position whereby you find you can't search among your browser bookmarks these days without getting severely stressed, as you search among the hundreds of bookmarks you've saved there, then do please read on, the solution to your problem is just within reach.
A handy PDF document courtesy of EduCause Learning Initiative will tell you the basics of how social bookmarking works. Employing the example of a Professor Smith who does much of his work online, the document explains that the academic has found the storage of bookmark's in folders on his web browser to be inefficient, for example many topics he is researching fall under a number of categories, not just one. Furthermore, he can't access essential bookmarks that are stored on his home machine when he is at his office at the University. Finally, finding one bookmark out of hundreds has become much more labour intensive than simply refinding the document with a simple Google click.
It's clear then that social bookmarking is of inestimable benefit to the busy professional, whatever his area of expertise. All you do is register with an appropriate social bookmarking site, for example Delicious which is easily accessible and easy to use. Then all you have to do is carry on saving your bookmarks, tagging them under appropriate categories and sharing them with whoever else is online who may benefit from them. In return, you can also examine the bookmarks already tagged by other members. Over time, what happens is that an online research-sharing community develops, which is popularly known as a 'folksonomy'.
As with everything however, there are downsides. First of all, the social bookmarking scene is very much an amateurish method of storing and sharing information, primarily because there is no centralized rule defining how subjects are tagged and stored. Secondly, the information gathered reflects the views and opinions of its users and therefore the available information can often be skewed in particular ways. Third, many of the features of social bookmarking are being built into other applications, social networking perhaps being the most obvious case.
That said, there are still many people out there who still believe social bookmarking as an essential aid to business. Lou Dubois for instance, writing on the website Inc cites the example of Isaac Marion, a writer who marketed his short story I am a Zombie Filled With Love on his website which was bookmarked on the StumbleUpon network.
A Hollywood producer by the name of Cori Stern saw it and told Marion that it had lots of potential and that he should convert the story into a longer novel. The result was Warm Bodies which has now been adapted into a movie produced by Summit Entertainment the company behind The Hurt Locker and the Twilight series.
Another benefit of social bookmarking, which ironically takes advantage of that skewed information phenomenon I was talking about earlier, is that it enables companies and individual users to identify trends and fashions through scrutiny of the 'most popular' categories on social bookmarking websites. This could be of enormous advantage to those involved in particular marketing campaigns for instance.
There are loads of bookmarking sites, many of which can be very beneficial to business. Twitter is known most commonly as a social networking site, but because it operates essentially through the distribution of links, in practice it is also a bookmarking site. Alongside Delicious, Digg has a reviewing feature which works to push bookmarks up or down a scale according to popularity, therefore enabling immediate identification of current hot topics. Yahoo Buzz gives the user editorial control of sorts by enabling the promotion of particular bookmarks while StumbleUpon actively sorts through bookmarks according to category in order to find those that are most relevant.
Lou Dubois identifies a number of ways in which bookmarking sites can work for business. She points out that companies who have easy access to a large amount of information are going to be particularly attractive to customers. Furthermore, social bookmarking enables companies to accumulate and promote testamonials thereby elevating status and reputation. The creation of folders and tags can assist in the tracking of progress for a particular project or campaign since it enables relevant stories and comments to be easily accessible and highly visible.
In essence then, social bookmarking is still very much a key business tool and should remain so for some considerable time to come.
How to Spray a Fully Formed Cocktail Out of a Soda Gun
The Waylon is a delicious, deceptively simple cocktail: smoke-infused Coca-Cola, water and bourbon. It's not shaken or stirred like the average mixed drink, though.
Say what you will about the pretentiousness of the term mixology and the feisty little world it tends to circumscribe, but any geek should appreciate the nerdiness that goes into a drink like the Waylon. Eben Freeman uses a custom setup that echoes "garage laboratory" more than be-vested, bespectacled, bearded purist. In one canister goes the ultra-concentrated smoke coke and bourbon, in the other, a ton of CO2. It's forced through the first canister, pushing the mix into a chilled block of metal. And sspppsshshsh, cocktail.

Pick A Few Network Marketing Strategies
Welcome to this post which is fully dedicated to the concept of network marketing strategies. Before we begin, I want you to relax, sit back, maybe grab a cup of coffee if you want, and read this post word by word. The importance of what I´m about to teach in the next couple of minutes, is going to be from extremely high importance, especially for the serious network marketer.
Generally speaking, there are thousands if not even millions of network marketing strategies out there that are waiting for you, so which ones should you pick, and which ones should you rather ignore or overlook? At first, I´ve to mention, that the best option is by far to pick network marketing strategies which have been effective by other people. Additionally, dedicate yourself to fully integrate them into your daily marketing.
Plus, make sure not to focus on too many network marketing strategies at once, because the likelihood rapidly increases that you might get overwhelmed and irritated by the quantity of tasks which have to be done. Of course, a smart decision is to pick 2-5 network marketing strategies, which verifiable led to outstanding results and simply stick with them.
Stick To The Right Network Marketing Strategies
Stick To The Right Network Marketing Strategies
You´re probably asking yourself right now: Gerald, how do I know which network marketing strategies are worth to ingrain for the long term, and which are better to ignore? That depends on multiple factors such as their effectiveness over a longer period, the ROI (return of investment) which basically means how much money you made, minus the investments, how many leads have been generated and more..
Because of that, it´s unbelievably important to stay on track on your results for a 1 week, 2 week, 3 week, 4 week.. periods, and review your EXACT results. Obviously, it doesn´t make sense to continue with network marketing strategies that didn´t bring any money, leads, or other remarkable results. With the time, you´ll get an amazing understanding, an inherent intuition on which network marketing strategies are likely to work, and which only deserve the label – “rubbish”.
With that being said, make the commitment to try different methods for at least a few weeks, and also dedicate yourself to continues reviews and improvements on them.
Network Marketing Strategies And Consistency
Network Marketing Strategies And Consistency
I´ve to stress the power of consistency one more time, because it´s too often overlooked by newbies, and individuals who just started off in the areas of network marketing. The only real measure of how you´re doing, are your results.
Fully understanding the concept and why every entrepreneur has to use consistency and persistency no matter what he´s going to touch, is not replaceable with anything out there. The only way to measure your results in a secure way, is to try something long enough in order to be in the position to judge whether it´s working or not.
The information on this blog should be pretty much enough to clarify this concept, and why every serious network marketer “should” stick to it, who considers creating a living in the industry.
It´s all about working with drive, passion, and solid network marketing tools, the one who understands this, walks the most profitable path himself.

"Schiavone" The New Record
Italy's Francesca Schiavone beat Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-4, 1-6, 16-14 over four hours and 44 minutes in the Australian Open's fourth round on Sunday in the longest women's singles match in grand slam history.
The sixth-seeded Schiavone needed an outlandish four hours, 44 minutes to upend Kuznetsova, 6-4, 1-6, 16-14, in the longest women's match in Open era history.
The first two sets between the former French Open champions went by with little fanfare, but the deciding set, which lasted three hours alone, provided more than enough drama for the crowd at Hisense Arena.
The Italian won 6-4, 1-6, 16-14 on Sunday, including a three-hour third set in which she saved six match points.
Schiavone, the reigning French Open champ, staved off three more match points during her next service game and earned a break for a chance to serve out the match, but Kuznetsova answered with a break of her own.
The longest previous women’s match in a Grand Slam tournament was at Melbourne Park last year, when Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova beat Regina Kulikova 7-6 (5), 6-7 (10), 6-3 in a match lasting 4 hours, 19 minutes.
Schiavone won on her third match point in the 30th game of the final set.
Schiavone now runs into world number one Caroline Wozniacki who ousted Anastasija Sevastova 6-3, 6-4.
Ex-champion Maria Sharapova crashed 6-2, 6-3 against German Andrea Petkovic, who was on fire two days after getting an easy 1-0 third-round victory when Venus Williams had to retire injured.
Petkovic next meets China's Li Na, who made short work of Victoria Azarenka, 6-6, 6-3 as she improved her perfect 2011 record to 11-0.
Joking aside, Wozniacki needs to beat Schiavone and reach the semi-finals to make sure she maintains the number one ranking.
Posted in: Sport News"Zodiac Signs" is Mr. Kunkle out of whack ?
Disputed new zodiac signs shift creates astrological crisis. Some astrologers have been fighting over disputed zodiac shift. It all started after a internationally-famed magazine reported about the change early last week. It wrote that the change was possible because of a change in the Earth’s rotation.
The news has upset many people. A practicing psychic and CMU alumna Dove was the first to express her concern over it. She said: “It really puts a dramatic spin on things. I went from being an Aries to a Pisces and it makes a bit of a mess out of things.”
- Lisa McGinley
I think Mr. Kunkle is out of whack! What is with these scientists who have nothing better to do with their time than change things that don't need to be changed (like the pronunciation of "Haley's Comet")?
However, there are many like Lake senior Kevin Birkholz, who are least bothered about the changes made in zodiac signs. He said: “I’ve never heard so many people care so much about the zodiac signs until they changed. I never really knew what mine was before and I still don’t know what it is. Honestly, it has no effect on me.”
So, if you've been going through life believing you were a reticent Virgo, you may be shocked to discover that you're actually a fierce Leo.
Has your sign changed? And, if so, how do you feel about that? Disoriented? Bereaved? In denial? (No! I'm a Capricorn, dammit!)
That's like saying I was born with red hair. And just to prove I was born a stubborn Taurus and not a drifty Aries, I am going to ignore all talk of sign changes!
- Lisa McGinley
I think Mr. Kunkle is out of whack! What is with these scientists who have nothing better to do with their time than change things that don't need to be changed (like the pronunciation of "Haley's Comet")?

Once upon a time, I was a mystical, intuitive Cancerian. With the moon as our "ruling" "planet," we're also known for our dynamic moods, which I've relied on all too frequently to explain irrational behavior, which comes easily to me, naturally. We're homebodies (and I am) who are fiercely loyal to those who serve us well and, man, can we hold a grudge (check and check). P.S. We're kinda psychic. Somehow, we also have a knack for attracting people (ahem) into our little circles with little to no effort.
Now I'm rendered a Gemini by this alleged "wobble" in the earth's axis. I go from brooding woman of mystery to one afflicted with the spiritual equivalent of split-personality disorder. Great. Now that I've started lying about my age, I think I'll start lying about my sign and remain a cool Cancer.
- Kenton Robinson
Give me a reading with my "new zodiac" and I'll believe it. At this point I am the complete opposite of Gemini. How can that be possible?
Gemini? I don't have problems like superficiality, inconstancy, indecisiveness. I don't even like dancing! So how can I be a Gemini?
Is it's him?

Matt Wiman called his fight against Cole Miller, "human dogfighting" and he came out and showed it in an impressive performance at UFC Fight for the Troops 2. Wiman picked up his third straight win in the UFC's lightweight division, taking a unanimous decision over Cole Miller.
Wiman also used several of the signature move of MMA legend Kazushi Sakuraba as he assaulted a prone Miller from top position including double hammer strikes and cartwheel guard passes.
Wiman declined to touch gloves with his former cast mate. Miller used his reach to score with punches before Wiman got a take down and spent the remainder of the round landing from the top.
In the second Wiman caught a knee and threw Miller down like a prom date. Miller took his licks and fought back to his feet. Wiman then landed a knee of his own and dropped Miller. On the ground he pounded away with an entertaining series of strikes, including a Sakuraba-style double hammer fists, elbows and straight punches. The gritty Miller took his beating and survived the round.
Miller talked some trash at the beginning of the third. Wiman opened the action however. Miller landed some counter strikes in the tough exchanges. Wiman then got Miller in a guillotine and worked for the choke from top position. Wiman had to give it up briefly but regained it while holding top position despite a series of sweep attempts from Miller. Wiman then stood and landed another series of strikes from top position. Wiman even tried a cartwheel guard pass that didn't work but did start a scramble that ended with him taking Miller's back.
The two veterans of the Ultimate Fighter have both proven they belong in the world's top MMA promotion. Miller going 8-2 and Wiman 6-3. (bloodyelbow)
In battle of old lion versus young lion, Yves Edwards used his experience to submit “The Ultimate Fighter 12” quarter-finalist Cody McKenzie with a rear-naked choke in the second round at UFC “Fight for the Troops 2” on Saturday at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. The choke rendered McKenzie unconscious 4:33 into round two.
The first frame saw McKenzie shoot immediately for a takedown, but Edwards’ defense held strong. From there, the veteran peppered the Alaskan with superior stand-up, forcing McKenzie to shoot for takedowns. Though McKenzie managed to take the fight to the floor, little was accomplished, and Edwards regained his vertical base.
In round two, McKenzie was far more effective with his ground attack, securing the mount and eventually locking up a body triangle. After a scare, the wily Edwards reversed the position, taking McKenzie’s back and choking the 23-year-old unconscious.
“I didn’t want to let position go. He was strong when he got my back, so I wanted to be strong when I got [that] position, too,” said Edwards. “I’m happy to be back in the UFC, and I’m happier to fight for the troops. You guys put it all on the line.”
Johnson Body Triangle Submits Guymon
In a welterweight affair that was likely crucial to the immediate futures of both competitors, “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 9 finalist DaMarques Johnson finished Michael Guymon with one of the least common submissions in the game: a body triangle.
After stuffing an early Guymon takedown, Johnson threw his opponent to the mat, passing to side control and eventually to mount. From there, Guymon rolled over, giving up his back. Johnson locked up a body triangle and fished for a rear-naked choke, but the “Joker” continued to roll. However, Guymon ended up on his stomach, and Johnson cinched his body triangle even tighter, forcing the verbal submission at 3:22.
Though Johnson ended Guymon’s outing in the first round, the welterweight was unsatisfied with his performance. According to Johnson, he was hoping to inflict more damage before the stoppage occurred.
“Yeah, I’m disappointed. It’s like foreplay with no orgasm. I didn’t finish,” Johnson said. “I was just looking to get pressure and a good angle. He’s a big strong guy. I was just trying to get up and drop some dum-dums on him. My bad, guys.”
Yahya Extends Brown’s Fall
File Photo
Yahya (above) outpointed ATT's Brown.
Mike Thomas Brown’s troubles continued, as submission ace Rani Yahya defeated the one-time WEC featherweight champion by unanimous decision on the undercard. Scores were 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28, all in Yahya’s favor.
Round one belonged to the Brazilian, as he took the fight to the floor with a slick takedown after a brief feeling-out process. Once on the ground, Yahya attacked like a boa constrictor, wrapping up the wrestler’s legs and attempting several guillotines. Though Brown attempted to escape, the Brazilian’s attack was suffocating. Yahya briefly secured the former champion’s back as the round expired.
In the second frame, Yahya employed more of his erratic but frustrating stand-up to lure Brown into a grappling contest. As Brown engaged the Brazilian, he attempted a slam, but Yahya countered with another guillotine attempt. Though Brown eventually scored the takedown, Yahya again threatened with a guillotine before standing.
On the feet, the American Top Team representative pursued Yahya impatiently, looking for a power shot to end the fight. Brown attempted a front choke late in the round, but Yahya defended well.
Yahya rushed ahead aggressively in round three, digging hard for a single-leg takedown. The Brazilian then secured a body lock and executed a leg trip that put the former champ on his back. Using his discipline of choice masterfully, the Brazilian secured Brown’s back, locked up a body triangle and dropped blows on the American’s head. Referee Mario Yamasaki stood up the men to warn Yahya for blows to the back of the head, but the round and the fight were his.
Brown has lost three of his last four fights.
Lowe Provides Rude Welcome for ‘Chiquerim’
Powerful wrestler Waylon Lowe outpointed Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Willamy “Chiquerim” Freire in a lightweight tilt, earning 29-28 scores across the board.
Lowe bull-rushed quickly to start the fight and scored a forceful double-leg takedown. The Brazilian was active from his back, however, landing nice elbows to the top of Lowe’s skull before securing a double wristlock and attempting to pop out Lowe’s arm for a kimura. Despite Friere working for his submission, referee Dan Miragliotta stood up the pair. Once standing, Lowe staggered the Brazilian and pounced. Friere stayed composed and again worked from his back as the round expired.
Round two brought more of the same, with the wrestler scoring takedowns and Friere attempting submissions from his back. The third frame belonged to the jiu-jitsu player, as “Chiquerim” took advantage of Lowe’s fatigue and secured top position on a failed takedown attempt from the Bellator Fighting Championships veteran. Lowe eventually escaped and took the fight to the floor, where he avoided danger and left the cage victorious.
The defeat snapped an 11-fight winning streak for the 23-year-old Freire.
Brenneman Outwrestles, Outpoints Alves
Charlie Brenneman used superior wrestling to best Nova Uniao’s Amilcar Alves in a preliminary welterweight contest, riding out a unanimous decision. All three of the cage-side judges sided with Brenneman by matching 30-27 counts.
All three rounds were similar, as “The Spaniard” scored repeated takedowns and worked to pass his opponent’s guard. The first round saw the AMA Fight Club product slam Alves to the mat and even secure the mount before time expired. Rounds two and three were carbon copies of the first, and although the Brazilian attempted to make a difference off his back, it proved too little to overcome the American.
Cariaso Edges Campuzano
In the “Fight for the Troops 2” opener, Chris Cariaso bested Will Campuzano in a close unanimous decision. All three judges scored the contest 29-28 for Cariaso, a San Francisco-based muay Thai practitioner who has won five of his last six fights.
The first round saw considerable action in the stand-up realm, with both men landing shots on their feet. After more blows were exchanged in round two, Cariaso’s attempted takedown was stuffed by Campuzano. With the two bantamweights still upright, Campuzano appeared to get the best of the exchanges until the horn sounded.
They let it all hang out in the third round. Cariaso finally succeeded in executing a takedown, which may have provided the margin of victory. Campuzano was back on his feet quickly, however, and the duo traded blows as the fight came to a close. (sherdog)

Nadal, Melbourne champion in 2009, bombed through the first set, but Tomic came out swinging in the second, bursting into a 4-0 lead before the swashbuckling Spaniard came roaring back.
Nadal broke Tomic's serve in the match's third game and again in the seventh in winning the first set. Tomic built a 4-0 lead in the second set behind his only two breaks in the match but Nadal won six of the next seven games to take the set.
Red T-shirt drenched in sweat, Nadal finally took the second set 7-5 with a fierce serve down the middle and after an early break in the third, closed out the match with a drilled backhand which was too hot for Tomic to handle.
Fourth-seeded Robin Soderling faced only three break points in a 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 victory over Jan Hernych and fifth-seeded Andy Murray was very impressive in a 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 romp over No. 32-seeded Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. Murray piled up eight service breaks in the win.
"It's a really nice stage to show, at a grand slam, because it is tougher to beat these top guys, especially in three out of five, knowing after two sets they have a chance to get back," said Raonic, a fiery 1.96m beanpole with a booming serve.
Raonic, who had never beaten a top 10 player before, earlier defeated German journeyman Bjorn Phau and French 22nd seed Michael Llodra in straight sets, and credited his performance in part to toning down the on-court tantrums.
"This was almost the reason why I lost last round in the quallies," he said. "I was able to change it around."
No. 7-seeded David Ferrer had just 15 unforced errors as he ran past Richard Berankis 6-2, 6-2, 6-1.
Milos Raonic beat 10th-seeded Mikhail Youzhny 6-4, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 and Alexandr Dolgopolov wore down No. 13 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for a 3-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory. Youzhny and Tsonga joined No. 12 Gael Monfils and 16th-seeded Mardy Fish as the only Top 16 seeds not to make the men's fourth round.
Nadal, who has not been ousted before the fourth round in a major since the 2005 U.S. Open, may hear it a little bit from the crowd tomorrow morning. While the 24 year old is usually a fan favorite, Australians will probably rally in support of 18 year old Bernard Tomic, who hales from Gold Coast.
Tomic, who has been eliminated in the second round of the last two Australian Opens, reached the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career with a 7-6, 7-6, 6-3 upset of 31st ranked Feliciano Lopez.
Tomic scored 12 fewer winners and 10 fewer aces in the victory, but Lopez also nearly doubled the German born teen in unforced errors (21 to 40).
The fourth round of Nadal's half of the men's bracket has Nadal going against Cilic while Ferrer meets Raonic. Soderling is to play Dolgopolov and Murray draws Melzer for their next matches.

Vernon Wells to the Angels
The Angels attempted to sign outfielder Carl Crawford(notes) and third baseman Adrian Beltre(notes), but were outbid for both. Crawford signed with the Boston Red Sox for $142 million over seven years; Beltre with the Texas Rangers for a guaranteed $80 million over five years.
Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Angels are sending Mike Napoli to the Toronto Blue Jays in a deal that would bring Vernon Wells back to Anaheim. There are apparently others involved in the deal.
Napoli led the Angels with 26 home runs last year, but the team has been shopping Napoli for months in part because of his inconsistent defense. The Angels' desire to move him accelerated when Napoli asked for $6.1 million in an arbitration filing last week. The Angels were beaten out in efforts to land Carl Crawford and Adrian Beltre earlier this winter, but acquiring Wells would show that their willingness to spend money this offseason is in earnest. Wells is owed $86 million over the next four seasons -- $23 million next season and $21 million in each of the following three seasons.
Wells is owed $86 million over the next four years, a contract that made him seem untradeable, and it may be that the Blue Jays are eating a good chunk of his salary as part of this deal.
Rosenthal says Wells will play center for the Angels, with Hunter moving to right field.
Trading Napoli and Rivera, whose 2011 salary is $5.25 million, frees up at least $10.55 million, helping defray some of Wells' hefty salary, and gives the Angels the flexibility to add more offense. The Angels slipped from No. 2 in 2009 to No. 19 in runs scored last season.
If the Angels can't land Podsednik, they could go after a designated hitter. They have been linked to ex-Angel Vladimir Guerrero.
Trading away Napoli also clears the path for one of the Angels' top prospects, catcher Hank Conger, who batted .300 with 11 home runs and 49 RBIs at Triple-A Salt Lake last season.
The Angels figure to split up catching duties between Conger and veterans Jeff Mathis and Bobby Wilson.
